Mini-expo Black Barbies

From May 1st to July 1st, the Black Barbies collection by Mylo Freeman will be on display at the LocHal Library. And on May 26th at 1:30 PM, she will talk about this Barbie collection, read from her own work, and work with children to create a cool outfit for Barbie.

The Dutch-American children's book creator, artist, and collector Mylo Freeman started her collection of Black Barbies 10 years ago. With this unique collection of nearly 150 dolls, she came up with the idea of holding a traveling exhibition. "I never saw a black Barbie as a child, ten years ago I saw my first black Barbie and was immediately sold." The Black Barbies exhibition is in line with her books about Princess Arabella, aimed at creating more awareness among children about inclusivity. This expo will be on display from May 1st to July 1st in the Youth Department of the LocHal Library.

Workshop

On May 26th at 1:30 PM, Mylo will read from her books about Princess Arabella, talk more about her Barbie collection, and would also love to hear more about your Barbies. So, be sure to bring your own Barbie! And if your father/mother/grandfather/grandmother/brother/sister has a Barbie, bring them all too. Mylo will also create a beautiful Barbie drawing live that afternoon, and then you will have the opportunity to design your own Barbie outfit. The workshop is free, but you need to register in advance at the LocHal Library. Check the agenda (May 26th) on www.bibliotheekmb.nl for more information.
